Terms of Service

The rules for using the MUAA Alumni app

These terms are the agreement between you and the Miami Union Adventist Academy (MUAA) Alumni Association when you use our mobile app. They cover who can join, how to treat other members, what happens to the content you post, and how accounts can end.

The short version: be who you say you are, treat fellow Jaguars with respect, own what you post, and know that we moderate the community and can remove content or accounts that break these rules. You can leave anytime by deleting your account.

1Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the MUAA Alumni app, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don’t use the app.

2Who can use the app

The app is for alumni, students, staff, and friends of Miami Union Adventist Academy. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and you agree to provide accurate information about yourself. The alumni directory is visible to other signed-in members; you control whether you appear in it from Settings.

3Your account

  • Keep your login credentials secure and don’t share your account.
  • You’re responsible for everything that happens under your account.
  • Represent yourself honestly — no impersonating other people, staff, or the Academy.
  • Tell us at info@muasda.org if you suspect unauthorized use.

4Community rules

This is a community for fellow Jaguars. When you post, comment, chat, or share photos, you agree not to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate anyone.
  • Post hateful, discriminatory, violent, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable content.
  • Share content that is illegal, infringes someone’s rights, or violates their privacy.
  • Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your affiliation with the Academy.
  • Spam, advertise, scam, or post unsolicited promotions.
  • Upload photos of others without their consent, or tag people who have asked not to be tagged.
  • Attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the app or its systems.

We have zero tolerance for abusive content and abusive users. You can report any post, message, or profile, and block any member, directly in the app.

5Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create — your posts, photos, comments, and messages. By posting it, you grant the MUAA Alumni Association a non-exclusive license to host, display, and distribute that content within the app so the community features work.

You’re responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to share it. Don’t upload anything you don’t have permission to share, and respect others’ photo-tag choices.

6Moderation & enforcement

To keep the community safe, we may review reported content and, at our discretion, remove content, restrict chat, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these terms — with or without notice, depending on severity. Blocking and reporting tools are always available to you, and our team triages reports on an ongoing basis.

7Donations

Donations are not enabled in this version of the app. If giving is turned on in a future update, contributions support Miami Union Adventist Academy, are processed securely by Stripe, and are generally non-refundable except as required by law. Any donation terms shown at the time of giving will govern that transaction.

8Third-party services

The app relies on third-party providers — including Supabase, GetStream, Sentry, Mapbox/Google Maps, Expo, and (if donations are enabled) Stripe — to deliver its features. Your use of those features may also be subject to those providers’ terms. We’re not responsible for third-party services we don’t control.

9Disclaimers

The app is provided “as is” and “as available.” While we work to keep it running smoothly and safely, we don’t guarantee it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that member-posted content is accurate. Use of the app is at your own discretion.

10Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the MUAA Alumni Association, Miami Union Adventist Academy, and the app’s developers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including content posted by other members. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11Ending your account

You can leave anytime. Delete your account from Settings → Delete account, which removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or put the community at risk.

12Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

13Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We’ll revise the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.
